the story . . .
Joey makes his living in and around the Little Big town of Bryan, Texas. A New Orleans native, his sound – which he calls Folk Rock Groove – is influenced by the Crescent City’s eclectic heritage of Gospel, Jazz, Blues and Rock.
“As a kid I wanted to be a heavy metal shredder and started playing guitar. The metal thing didn’t work out but I discovered a few things along the way: I could sing, my fingers weren’t all that fast, and Bob Dylan’s songs were much more accessible! That began my journey into singing, songwriting and Folk Rock Groove.”
“I have three albums under my belt: Alive & In The House, Love Is The Way and Fades To Sun. I’m currently working on my fourth - Terlingua Taproot - and I am finding my distinctive voice in it as I revisit song styles that were significantly influential in getting me into music - Gospel, Southern Rock, Folk and Country. It will be some of my best work to date.”
